Raise up the Saints (aka RUTS) was born out of a conviction laid upon my heart, to be a light to bikers in need. My name is Michael Muscroft (aka Muz), the Founder of the RUTS ministry.
RUTS is a Christian Motorcycle Ministry centred on Jesus Christ. It is non-denominational, Bible-based, and passionate about riding with purpose. Whether it’s out on the open road or just living day-to-day life, the aim is simple: to honour Christ in everything I do.
RUTS stands for “Raise up the Saints.” That’s my way of saying “I will bring people into discipleship” – not just on Sunday mornings, but every-day of our lives and our rides. By the way, in the Bible, the idea of “raising up the saints” is closely connected to resurrection, vindication, and God bringing His faithful people into glory.
Daniel 12:2–3 (Old Testament)
“Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life…”
* This is one of the earliest explicit teachings that God will raise the righteous.
Isaiah 26:19 (Old Testament)
“Your dead shall live; their bodies shall rise.”
1 Thessalonians 4:14–17 (New Testament)
“The dead in Christ will rise first.”
* This passage explicitly teaches that believers ( aka Saints) will be raised when Christ returns.
1 Corinthians 15:52–54 (New Testament)
“The dead will be raised imperishable…”
* Paul explains the transformation of the Saints into glorified bodies.
None of us are perfect riders, and none of us are perfect Christians either. We all make mistakes. But the good news is this; through the Gospel of Jesus Christ, redemption is available to every one of us. When we believe God’s Word, respect Scripture, and walk together with honesty, grace, and accountability, real change can happen.
To start with, I bring people into discipleship, I can’t make a disciple. Only God can do that, if you choose to make the choice of following His Son – Jesus Christ. I simply provide the support and information to help you to come to that decision.
Think of me as a Road Captain, guiding the non-believer along the best route to Jesus.
What I don’t do, when I talk to another biker about my faith, is to come at them waving a scripture tract in their face or try to start a heated debate. I come to you and speak as a friend, just as Jesus did. We don’t have to agree on everything to enjoy good fellowship, mutual respect, and a shared moment on the road.
I don’t want to spoil your ride-out, or ruin my day either! I respect your views and will never force anyone “to come to Jesus.” It really is your choice to make, I’m just a facilitator and we can still be friends whichever choice you make.
Did you know that Jesus never forced anyone to hear His teachings? He would speak to people and even debate topics with them, but if they refused to hear His message, He simply walked away. It was their choice to hear or not.
Jesus consistently shows that:
For instance, when the people of Nazareth rejected Him and became violent, He chose to withdraw because their hearts were closed to Him. (Luke 4:28-30)
In my heart, I stand firmly on biblical Christianity:
These truths are the foundations that I stand on, as Jesus Christ preached.
My mission is to glorify Jesus Christ. This is done by sharing the Gospel, encouraging believers, and reaching those who don’t yet know Him – especially in the biker culture. I rely on Jesus’ love, to give me the strength & courage to open bikers minds and hearts to His word. To uphold my faith, testimony, and fellowship to open doors and start honest conversations.
The articles on the RUTS website are written to encourage, challenge, and strengthen non-believers and also to help new believers. I’ll cover things like apologetics, cultural issues, biblical teaching, and everyday Christian living.
Every fortnight (on a Sunday morning at 10am – UK time) I’ll upload a new Muz’ Messages – a kind of condensed topical sermon, but written for you to read. Just until you are ready to attend a Church and listen to Gods Word from the pulpit.
Nothing here is meant to stir up trouble or cause offence. But I also won’t soften or dilute the truth of the Bible just to make it more comfortable. Truth matters for you and me. Jesus would not have it, any other-way!
“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him… And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.” – 1 John 2:15–17
